So the question is not usually "is Wikipedia good", but "is Wikipedia good enough". Printed reference works are typically seen as "good enough" because of assumptions about how publishers operate. So if Wikipedia is going to be "good enough", it should be at least as good as a comparable reference work.pfctdayelisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16930652936935871532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33573016.post-45974727075578858052008-03-11T19:28:00.000-05:002008-03-11T19:28:00.000-05:00I'm not inclined to care what EB has. Wikipedia articles should stand (or fail) on their own, and not merely by comparison with some other encyclopedia.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04107127399494404366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33573016.post-66818917946789682932008-03-11T19:19:00.000-05:002008-03-11T19:19:00.000-05:00Kelly, EB has an article on "wiki". This is something of a bikeshed problem; it's my impression that it will not readily be resolved.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04107127399494404366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33573016.post-56030942275203703202008-03-11T17:52:00.000-05:002008-03-11T17:52:00.000-05:00It's really impossible to overstate the importance...It's really impossible to overstate the importance of stable versions for improving the writing style of articles. Does anyone know how this is progressing, tech-wise? (In the meantime, I think people are developing wikipedia-literacy -- the ability to scan for info effectively despite the writing flaws.)

Good stuff, I'm looking forward to the next one in the series.Ben Yateshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11551938089613651798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33573016.post-39315334889400010072008-03-11T16:59:00.000-05:002008-03-11T16:59:00.000-05:00Kelly, I almost always get to your blog by searchi...Kelly, I almost always get to your blog by searching Google for "nonbovine".
