Is that too much to ask ? to be able to take a movie from your computer and throw it on a little memory stick and plug it into a TV to watch?<BR/><BR/>There's Ipod nanos. They are pretty close, but the video quality is barely better than VHS, and that's after tweaking the encoding settings for each particular film ... if you overshoot on the settings, it starts to get a little jerky. And it's h264 implementation sucks; no b-frames, so you might as well use xvid. <BR/><BR/>Then there's PSP. These fucking rock. As a video dongle with TV out, they exceed nanos by an order of magnitude on bitrate, and they handle a lot more of the h264, like b-frames and the entropy encoder. But they are a little on the large size. <BR/><BR/>What would be nice is for TVs and DVD players to have a usb port and to be able to recognize video files from a memory key, but that would cut into the DVD rental marked, so The Man probably won't let it happen.<BR/><BR/>All in all, the ipod nano is the closest thing available.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
