Danny Wool's new blog today has a very good article that draws parallels between Wikipedia and various declining empires through history. Few people have Danny's depth of experience with Wikipedia, and his unique history with Wikipedia gives him a special ability to see long-term trends that others with shorter experience or memories might miss.
