Holidays are upon us

The holidays are almost upon us, and that means I'm going to be paying less attention to Wikipedia and Wikimedia for a few days while I enjoy some time with friends and family. Don't expect any new posts for a while. There'll be new stuff in the new year, though. I can't imagine that the drama will abate just because it's Christmas.

Seasons greetings to all (even you, Jimbo), and to all a good night!

  1. Happy holidays Kelly.

You blog is a lot of fun. Keep up the good work.

  2. C'mon, Google News Wikipedia today. Less than an hour ago the Associated Press picked up the Doran story. Oops.

You know you want to add an entry on that.

    Merry Christmas, Kelly.

  3. Joe, Carolyn is old news now. It would take something like a credible rumor that there was a plan to sell Wikimedia out to private investors (through some sort of structured transaction, naturally, in order to get around the inconvenience of the Foundation being incorporated not-for-profit) to get me to take time away from my holiday plans.

  4. Despite my disappointment in your promised lack of lulz in the near future, you deserve a break from telling the Wikitruth. Happy Holidays!

  9. You know, there's a lulz filled arbitration going on at Wikipedia. You should contribute and admit to all the back channel deals you were involved in via IRC.

That would... I almost can't speak. The possibility of that much wiki-drama actually has me choked up.

Please, make my Kwanzaa wish come true.

  10. That is just a re-hash. The really interesting Arbcom case is "Zeraeph-SandyGeorgia". SG has a place on SlimVirgin's sh*tlist. SG some positive notice about two weeks back becoming a FA deputy. That probably reminded SV about her so I imagine SV starting digging into what past issues she has had. Soon she finds a blocked editor (Zeraeph) who has issues with SG for over a year. SV decides to unblock Z and become her mentor defending her from SG. SV after a few days realizes Z is a loon and starts sidestepping away from the situation while continuing to take pot-shots at SG. Much of the above is my conjecture but I can't believe it was pure SV came across the talk page of this blocked user (no overlapping interests with SV) and decided to mentor her. When has SV ever mentored a blocked user in history? This could be the case that bring SV under enough scrutiny to start the path to desysoping.

  11. Zeraeph doesn't seem to be any kind of "loon", more like a target for a common bully called SandyGeorgia. The most scathing indictment against Wikipedia is that so few seem able to see this increasingly obvious fact, up to, and including providing a patently insane stalker of many years standing called A Kiwi with a platform upon which to present the most aburd and invasive speculations about Zeraeph's private life that could not, by any stretch of the imagination, be relevant to Wikipedia.
